Cruising with Three Generations: Choose the Ship Before the Cabin

Green rainforest and Arenal Volcano beneath a dramatic sky in Costa Rica
Green rainforest and Arenal Volcano beneath a dramatic sky in Costa Rica. Destination inspiration.

Planning a cruise with the kids, parents, and grandparents? Let’s start with everyone who is coming before we choose the ship.

I’ll want to know the children’s ages, whether anyone needs shorter walking distances, and how much time you want to spend together. A ship that suits one family may feel quite different for another.

We’ll compare children’s activities, dining arrangements, and places where the adults can relax. Then we’ll look at connecting or nearby cabins and confirm their actual layouts and occupancy rules.

You don’t need a full schedule of family activities. A shared dinner or one excursion everyone enjoys can become the highlight. If you’re also considering a land vacation, our Costa Rica guide gives you another direction to explore.
